Benetech has identified key partners and noted experts from around the
world
to help in its efforts to increase the rate of safe landmine
clearing —
through the development of landmine detector and de-mining explosives
sensors.
Collaborators
In order to accelerate the development process of the landmine explosives
sensor, Benetech is working with several de-mining
groups and using their
existing protocols to acquire statistical data.
- United Nations Development Programme (UNDP): This organization
is
often the first agency in the field when hostilities
cease. It frequently
forms the seed of national organizations such as CMAC
below.
- Mine Advisory Group (MAG): A U.K. based group of de-mining
experts
with missions in many countries. We have contacts within
their Cambodia and
Vietnam operations.
- Cambodian Mine Action Group (CMAC): A national organization
that
took over from the UN. While there are no ongoing relations in the field at the moment, we maintain contact should something come up of mutual interest.
- Development Technology Workshop (DTW): A Cambodian-based
manufacturing organization of de-mining hardware.
- Danish De-mining Group and Danish Church Aid: Sri Lankan
and
Angolan-based organizations in field de-mining operations.
- Norwegian Peoples Aid: Sri Lankan operations with the
Indian Army
and UNDP.
- HALO Trust: A U.K. based charity and action group with
operations in
Cambodia, Sri Lanka and elsewhere in the world.
Board of Advisors
In addition to Benetech's full-time Landmine team, we have recruited
a
renowned Board of Advisors made up of experts who are
deeply committed to
solving humanitarian de-mining efforts throughout the
world. This advisory
board includes two Nobel Laureates, the inventor of
the magnetometer (metal
detector core technology) and electronics and QR experts.
